My name is Roy Pastor. I am a PBIA master instructor and have been working with junior players successfully for over 20 years. Many may know me from my work with the Billiard Education Foundation and as lead instructor for the industry backed Break and Run Program which offers free professional coaching and training to junior players in the US as well as overseas.
We also provide curriculum and support to junior training programs. Not only have we helped the growth of junior programs here in the US but our work with programs outside the US, such as the South African Pool4Change program, has helped establish pool in hundreds of schools teaching thousands of students.
Our mission with the International Junior Billiard Series is to bridge the gaps created by geography, financial resources, and language that separate the young players in our sport. To create opportunities for the young player to showcase their talents, make connections nationally and internationally, to develop a structure for financial support, education, training, and student exchange and travel.
Using technology and industry support, as well as our network of professional instructors, tour directors, and junior training programs here and abroad, we will be developing a truly unique platform for our billiard industry.
We will be working with industry leaders like the Billiard Education Foundation, The Break and Run Junior Instruction Program, Pool4Change Program, and many others to ensure that the interests of the next generation will remain in the forefront.
The high costs of travel make it prohibitive for many juniors to be able to participate and compete in events. Furthermore, leaving traditional school settings to compete can jeopardize a student’s academics and introduce stresses and pressures that discourage students from exceling in the sport. The International Junior Billiard Series provides families with options that present opportunities and balance, allowing juniors to excel and compete to their fullest, without these traditional barriers or sacrifice.
By combining online training, online tournaments, in person clinics and training, in person tournaments, Junior National Qualifiers, International competitions, student exchange programs here in the US and internationally, financial support, and equipment support, we can make a difference for the future.
Like links of a chain, there are many pockets of excellence around the world in cue sports. We would like to forge those links into a chain strong enough to support the future.
Our juniors can excel in life as well as pool if we can provide them with the right opportunities and show them how.
